The ASNT Publications Department is seeking volunteer subject matter experts to assist the ASNT Handbook staff editor and methods committees in the peer review of content for an upcoming VT Handbook.
ASNT membership, committee involvement, or ASNT certification, while encouraged, is not required to participate in the peer review process.
Expectations for Peer Reviewers
As a peer reviewer, you would use your expertise to:
- Help the Handbook Technical Editor assess the overall quality and completeness of a submission
- Review text and figures for accuracy
- Review scientific and technical explanations to ensure that they are instructive, clear, and technically accurate
- Review equations to ensure that accurate mathematics and consistent symbols are used
- Review references to published works to ensure that they are reasonably complete, and indebtedness is acknowledged appropriately
- Review text to ensure that it is free from commercial bias
In addition
- All Handbook peer reviews are blind reviews—respect the confidentially of the peer review process.
- Peer reviewers should focus on content not grammar, punctuation, syntax, spelling, etc..
- Match your experience to the subject matter.
- Meet your peer review deadlines.

Current ACCP Level II, ACCP Professional Level III, and ASNT NDT Level III certification holders can earn recertification credits for their publications activities as listed below. Participants are responsible for documenting their activity.
