Volunteer: 2026 Scholarship and Grant Application Reviewer - ASNT Foundation

We are seeking up to 10 -15 dedicated and detail-oriented volunteers to assist in reviewing ASNT Foundation scholarship and grant applications. As a 2026 scholarship and grant application reviewer, you will play a vital role in reviewing applications (essays, letters of recommendations, proposals, etc.) scoring applicants, and providing feedback to the Scholarships and Grants Committee to help select the most deserving candidates for scholarships and grants.

Volunteers will be required to log in to the Foundation’s online application portal to review submissions. Before beginning their assignments, all reviewers must attend a brief orientation session, where they will be introduced to the portal’s features, review workflow, and expectations alongside other volunteers. This ensures everyone is prepared and follows a consistent, fair review process. This virtual volunteer orientation will take place early February 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

Review Applications: Evaluate scholarship applications based on provided criteria, including academic achievements, personal essays, letters of recommendation, research involvement, and impact to the field of NDT. Score and Rank Applications: Using the established rubric, score applications objectively and fairly, ensuring consistency in evaluations. Provide Additional Feedback to the Scholarships and Grants Committee: You may be asked to participate in virtual discussions with other reviewers and committee members to discuss top candidates and ensure a fair decision-making process. Maintain Confidentiality: Keep all application materials and applicant information confidential throughout the review process. Meet Deadlines: Review a specified number of applications within the agreed timeline, ensuring timely completion of the review process.

Qualifications:

Strong attention to detail and the ability to evaluate a variety of materials (essays, recommendation letters, academic records). Good written and verbal communication skills for providing clear, constructive feedback. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.

ASNT is seeking volunteers to help design, prototype, and assemble Ultrasonic Testing (UT) STEM kits that will be distributed to middle schools. These kits—part of our UT in a Box initiative—introduce students to the science and real-world applications of ultrasonic testing through interactive experiments and classroom activities.

What You’ll Do

Collaborate with ASNT members and staff to design and prototype the UT in a Box kit.

Help source, test, and assemble kit materials for classroom use.

Provide creative input on educational content and activities that make UT concepts engaging and age-appropriate.
