Opportunities From: The American Society for Nondestructive Testing

Volunteer: ASNT GLOBAL ADVISORY BOARD (GAB)

CALL FOR APPLICANTS: ASNT GLOBAL ADVISORY BOARD (GAB)

As the nondestructive testing (NDT) profession continues to evolve in an increasingly interconnected world, ASNT is strengthening how we listen, learn, and lead globally. In October 2025, the ASNT Board of Directors approved the formation of a Global Advisory Board (GAB)—a new advisory body created to provide structured international insight and strategic guidance to the ASNT Board.

Why a Global Advisory Board?

ASNT’s membership, certifications, training programs, and partnerships extend well beyond North America. With this global growth comes increased complexity. Regional differences in standards, certification practices, regulatory environments, workforce development, technology adoption, and market needs all influence how the NDT profession advances worldwide.

While international engagement has long been a strength of the Society, global input has often been informal, episodic, or tied to specific initiatives. The GAB will provide a consistent, formal mechanism for international expertise to inform Board-level discussions and long-term strategy.

The GAB is advisory in nature. It does not carry governance or fiduciary responsibilities, and it does not replace existing committees or leadership structures. Instead, it serves as a strategic sounding board—offering insight, perspective, and recommendations grounded in regional experience.

Purpose and Responsibilities

The Global Advisory Board will focus on high-level, forward-looking issues affecting the global NDT community. Responsibilities include:

·         Advising the ASNT Board on global trends related to standards, certification systems, technology adoption, and workforce development

·         Providing regional perspectives on emerging challenges and opportunities in the NDT profession

·         Offering guidance on international growth opportunities, including training, certification, partnerships, and events

·         Serving as ASNT ambassadors at international conferences, professional meetings, and society engagements

·         Delivering recommendations to ensure consistent and informed international input

Through this work, the GAB will help ASNT anticipate global developments and align strategies with the needs of a diverse, international membership.

Composition and Selection

Members of the Global Advisory Board will be appointed by the ASNT Board of Directors for defined terms. Selection will emphasize:

·         Geographic diversity

·         Professional and industry expertise

·         Experience with international standards, certification, accreditation, training, or workforce initiatives

·         Ability to provide objective, strategic advice

Our goal is a balanced group of respected professionals who bring credibility, practical experience, and insight from across the global NDT landscape.

Who Should Apply?

ASNT encourages qualified members with international experience to express interest. Ideal candidates may include:

·         Leaders of national or regional NDT societies

·         Experts in certification, accreditation, and regulatory systems

·         Professionals engaged in training and workforce development

·         Individuals with extensive international professional networks and a cross-region perspective

How to Apply

Members interested in being considered should submit:

·         A brief professional biography or CV (an up-to-date LinkedIn profile is acceptable; please include full URL), and

·         A short statement describing relevant experience and how you would contribute to ASNT’s global strategy

Deadline: 31 March 2026
